A little repetitive

0:07 Sounds very nice
0:11 Wow pretty cool. Melody a bit jilted at the end
0:22 Very busy
0:32 Pretty simple beats
0:41 I like this beatbox type part
0:47 I don't like this melody
1:03 This is beginning to get repetitive
1:18 That bass would have been good in a different song
1:41 Very repetitive
1:48 Hey this is a welcome change
1:53 But again, too busy
2:02 Very busy, too many layers

OK, it was good, but not great. Too busy, very repetitive, the beat was too annoying, some of the melodies were very jilted... but overall I thought you had a very good professional touch. I just would like to hear a different song. This is experimental, but I didn't like it. Thanks though for letting me listen. 5 out of 10

This was like a meh 30-40 minute thing....didn't feel like doing anything special.

Though the repetitive is something I HAVE to work on...and just letting you know I'm not even close to being professional. D:

Thanks 'cause the truth is what make someone better.

Trance, key changes, undanceable

0:10 Like the melody
0:18 Synth is very cool... I should try 8-bit
0:31 Bass comes along very nicely
0:44 Can't really hear kick, but it's audible
0:56 Your snare is pretty cool, your beat standard
1:09 Sounds pretty much like your average tune though
1:26 I'd categorise this as Drum'n'Bass
1:43 It's quite cool though, ooh some silence
1:57 It came in well, but the climax wasn't large enough
2:12 Not a beat I'd dance to
2:24 Sounds pretty much the same
2:35 That's the thing, it's probably trance
2:50 Key change! Likey
3:00 I have a thing for key changes
3:12 Again, quite tedious
3:20 Nice touch here
3:31 Sometimes quiet is the best thing
3:41 I like the way you're removing the elements
3:50 The end is anti-climactic though

I felt the whole song was pretty much the same except for the key change. I would have liked to see some variation though. But it's good for 8bit. It's pretty good trance. It's just formulaic trance, that's all. Sounds like a million beats I've heard before. But anyway, gj. 6 out of 10

Thanks for letting me listen

DJames50 responds:

well... probably i'm bad on bass drum for 8-bit elements... but next time i'll control on bass drum.. anyway thanks for your outstanding review... :3
some instruments are bad but i'm glad you like it :3

Very cool, catchy in fact

0:07 Sounds very dramatic. I'm getting sucked in.
0:23 Very cool. I actually like the melody.
0:41 Melody goes quiet then loud sometimes. Like it though.
0:57 The drums esp. impress me.
1:08 This break is much-needed.
1:18 Very epic.
1:21 The ending could use a tweak to increase drama. I.e. an extra bar. O i c you said that in ur comments

Other than that, I was sucked in, man, very nice! I'd give you an 8 out of 10. Thanks for letting me listen.

Good parts, bad parts

0:10 Just starting to sound like noise at the moment
0:25 I don't really like the melody, it's a bit too jilted.
0:35 Only now do I realise how it's fitting into the song.
1:00 The melody is quite nice by now, but it doesn't rock my socks.
1:23 Ok, this sounds pretty good.
1:35 This is a pretty good break, and we get to hear the bass.
1:50 This melody sort of overpowers a bit in my opinion.
2:05 But I like this part right here with the synth... changing velocities? I don't have much knowledge about the technical stuff but that sounds good.
2:45 I like hearing the bass
2:55 Maybe this is a bit slow, the bass isn't loud enough I think. It could blow our minds!
3:15 End isn't very climactic in my opinion, but sufficient.

I'm a hard rater, and I give this a 5 out of 10. It's quite nice and all, I like some of the sounds produced, especially in the quieter portions, where it's mostly just bass, and you could turn the bass up a bit. Overall I enjoyed it, but not one to sing home about. Thanks for letting me listen

Very soothing

0:10 Pretty nice so far
0:28 the gat is mean.
0:42 this extra melody enacts goodness
0:58 The melody is quite soothing.

The song does seem to pose the question why, with its melodies somehow. I found that was pretty relevant. The melody is quite soothing, the guitar is a good variation. I like how you're trying new stuff apart from heavy metal, because I don't really enjoy much heavy metal and it's important to be flexible. Overall, very good and soothing, poses a question, very nice. 8 out of 10. Thanks for letting me listen.

ShiverMeSideways responds:

No, thank YOU for such a quick and uplifting comment :). I'm glad that I managed to convey the sentiment I was going for with the instrumentation!

About the guitar, I'm glad that it proved to be a good variation. I am a guitarist and this instrument brought me into music and I thought that it would be very interesting for me to try and incorporate it into this type of music. I'm trying to play with effects and see just what I can make a guitar part sound like, and where I can apply it. For now, I just started with processing a few simple natural harmonics; nothing too hefty, but there's a world of possibilities waiting for me! :D

Also, soothing is very good. I want the song to start out soothing and mellow, and gradually grow with more and more textures, and then go into a faster-paced part. Kind of like how a quest for answers would go in my mind.

I hope you'll stick around and check out the final version as well, your kind words and support have helped in convincing me that this project is a good idea, so I thank you again.

;_>

It reminds me of my childhood playing Sega Mega Drive on an impossibly difficult game for a 5-year-old yet I managed to clock it multiple times. I couldn't remember it until I heard it, then it all came back. Oh man that robot guy at the end was HARRRRRRD. Oh wait that was Dr Robotnik.

Very professional work

0:20 Beginning to sound very much like Radiohead.
0:35 Wow. Pretty brilliant.
0:45 Bass kind of ruins the feel
0:55 Didn't expect that!
1:08 Warped out of reality...
1:24 Very pleased.
1:40 Sounds a bit like noise to me.
1:51 I really like your drums here.
2:04 Again, the techy bass sort of turns me off.
2:24 Sleepy time.
2:36 Oooh... like the orchestral touches!
2:56 I heard a voice
3:04 Beginning to sound too chaotic to my tastes. You might have a twisted mind.
3:25 I like this break.
3:33 Awestruck! Nice transition.
3:45 Still sounding like noise.
4:00 Ending spooks me out a bit. Likey.

Verrrrrrrrrrry professional work. Nice transitions, very chaotic though, and I do like a bit of order. I would get rid of the techy bass in parts... i just call it techy i don't know what type of bass it is :P But it sounds very verrrrry good at the start. Reminds me of Radiohead's Reckoner, in fact it's very similar. And Reckoner's considered one of the greatest songs of all time, so that says something. The chaotic melodies sometimes turn me off however. Overall very professional work. 8 out of 10. Thanks for letting me listen.

Solid review, thank you for your competancy in the field of listening to music and articulating what you hear.

Quite cool

0:08 Hey I liked your melody there
0:20 This is starting to sound really nice
0:34 The "watch out!" is very overpowering
0:49 I actually LOLed! Achievement unlocked.
1:05 A bit too much melody for me.
1:21 What's that noise? Is it the opening of a chest? I haven't really played Zelda. But this sounds very cool.
1:45 Again the "watch out!" is very overpowering. So is the "hey~!". I'd loosen up on the repetition.
2:13 Nice touch at the end with the laugh. But I didn't really like the 3 notes at the end I think.

Overall pretty short and sweet, better at the beginning. Game sounds are quite overpowering. Maybe overshadowed by the recent link song with its corresponding flash. At 0:49, "look!" i think he said. It was very moving. Please do that again. Hope feedback was helpful. Thanks for letting me listen.

Dextracompleximus responds:

xD I figured it was a bit busy. Specially at the end where I just added more to it. But I'm glad you like it, thank you for the feedback! :D

Very nice

0:10 Sounding very cool with piano.
0:25 Bass hops onboard. Very smooth.
0:38 Synths sound very much like Gatecrasher.
0:51 This is quite cool.
1:02 I notice how you hopped on with the Snare there! Very nice.
1:30 Transcendent.
1:52 Melody's sort of getting a bit repetitive.
1:57 And then it suddenly changes! I might be a jinx.
2:18 I like this part right here.
2:38 This part wasn't dramatic enough. Should have felt cooler I guess. The strings or whatever's in the background seem to be overpowering, or too slow compared to melody, I can't be sure.
3:14 A wind blows over. I was expecting something big, but it didn't come.
3:34 This is a pretty good touch.

OK, was quite nice. A little bit boring at times, but kept me interested. Hope feedback is helpful. Thanks for letting me listen.

Pand3mic responds:

1:02 I notice how you hopped on with the Snare there! Very nice.

Thats a hat

0:38 Synths sound very much like Gatecrasher.

It is just a simple saw made in sytrus.

Wow. Just amazing.

I like what you've done with the place. From 00:30 the quick changes, the quick melodies don't really work with the song I think, though. But from 1:30 it sort of picks up and then I see that the guitar is quite cool sounding, nice melodies. You've got good SFX in there.

From 2:05 on it sort of slows down and I think that breaks the pace too much, but the piano touches are pretty fantastic.

And then at 2:25 when it launches into a new key it's pretty amazing.

2:50 felt very "Final Fantasy Inn" music.

I can see where you're going by 3:20 with the whole transcendent thing. It sounds pretty amazing.

And then I noticed that's actually your voice. Amazing. Just bumped it up from a 9 to a 10. It just sounded like a space saxophone or something lurking in the background.

4:30 nice fade out with the kick. Well done. Quite a grand experience. Hope feedback was useful. Thx for letting me listen :)

I'm a music artist, mostly. Live in the bush pretty much, want to know what it's like in America. I don't spend much time on here except when I want to. Which says much.
